Overview of Piau Engaly

Piau-Engaly is a unique resort, born in the 1970s from the vision of architect Jean-Marc Roques, who wished to create a resort integrated into the landscape. At 1,850 metres, it nestles at the foot of the slopes, with residences whose forms follow the curves of the mountain. Its pedestrian resort centre offers rare safety and tranquillity — ideal for families. The ski area, rising to nearly 2,600 metres, is Piau’s greatest asset. Its altitude and geographical situation ensure abundant natural snowfall of excellent quality throughout the winter, allowing an extended season. Skiing at Piau is a nature experience: the runs follow the relief without ever detracting from it, and vast zones are left in their natural state for the pleasure of freeride enthusiasts. In summer, Piau transforms into a base camp for lovers of wild mountains. It is the gateway for numerous walks in the Pyrenees National Park and the Neouvielle Reserve. With 65 km of runs ranging from 1,850 to 2,600 m altitude, it offers a unique experience where natural relief is king. Far from artificial boulevards, the runs here hug the terrain curves, offering fluid and varied sliding. The domain is designed for logical progression. The ski area base is a vast beginner zone — one of the Pyrenees’ largest — where children and novices learn safely on gentle slopes and covered carpets, a true cocoon isolated from the flow of experienced skiers. For intermediate skiers, the domain’s heart offers numerous long and panoramic blue runs like the Pic de Piau, with unbeatable views over the National Park.
