“Discovered” by the Baroness de Rothschild in the 1920s, this handsome, well-heeled Haute-Savoie village strings luxury chalets, fine hotels and gourmet restaurants along the gentle slopes of its mountains. Many even stay open all year round, proof of the area’s appeal. On the skiing side, even though the slopes don’t climb very high, the resort’s two ski areas offer over 400km of slopes. Overview of Megève
With over 3,000 inhabitants, Megeve is a genuine mountain town, made up of fine, substantial chalets spread across the two slopes of its pass between the Arve valley and the Val d’Arly. A resort created at the initiative of Baroness Noemie de Rothschild, Megeve is also one of France’s oldest ski resorts. Today it is a year-round destination with restaurants and hotels unique in the Alps. In this wide valley, visitors have access to 2 alpine ski areas and 3 Nordic areas.
Megeve also has a golf course, an altiport, a conference centre and one of the finest aquatic centres in the Alps. Megève in summer
Far from high-altitude ski resorts, Megeve is as appealing in summer as in winter, thanks to the diversity of its activities and its gentle alpine art de vivre. From the first days of June, cyclists tackle the Col des Aravis or take to e-mountain biking on marked trails. Walkers explore the paths of the Mont d’Arbois, the Jaillet or in the direction of the Lac de Javen — perfect for a family outing. Le Palais, one of the largest leisure complexes in the mountains, offers climbing, tennis, spa and temporary exhibitions.
At altitude, the 18-hole golf course and paragliding experiences extend the active days. In the village, markets, concerts and festivals punctuate the season. Nearby, rafting, canyoning, climbing and alpinism are available in the Mont Blanc massif. You can also visit Chamonix, Saint-Gervais, Geneva and nearby Italy.

Megève in winter
In winter, Megeve combines tradition and modernity around two major ski areas — Le Jaillet and the Mont d’Arbois — linked on one side to Saint-Gervais and on the other to Combloux and La Giettaz. In total, over 400 km of runs offer varied skiing, often through forests, always with views of Mont Blanc. The ski area appeals to both leisurely skiers and those who prefer long sweeping runs, with numerous sun-drenched terraces at altitude.
In the resort, gliding continues in a gentler mode: snowshoe walks, horse-drawn sleigh rides, skating on the village square. Le Palais — the sports and wellness centre — offers a pool, spa, climbing wall and exhibitions. The Evasion Mont-Blanc domain is one of France’s largest with nearly 450 km of runs, but its approach is unique. Rather than a single fully linked ski area, it is a collection of several magnificent ski areas, accessible with a common pass, organised around the iconic villages of Megeve, Saint-Gervais and their neighbours. It is an invitation to a-la-carte skiing, where you choose your atmosphere and playground each day. The skiing experience focuses primarily on two large linked sectors: the Heart of the Domain — Megeve/Saint-Gervais sector, the largest combined area, offering XXL linked skiing with exceptional panoramas over the Mont Blanc massif. It directly connects Saint-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas-de-Veroce and the main Megeve sectors (Rochebrune, Mont d’Arbois). The atmosphere is bright, between wide high-pasture runs, forest descents and numerous well-regarded mountain restaurants. The Portes du Mont-Blanc sector — this second linked ski area, more intimate, offers 100 km of runs connecting the Jaillet sector (Megeve) to the village resorts of Combloux and La Giettaz. The skiing is gentler — a hop between charming alpine villages — with superb views over the Aravis massif and Mont Blanc. The bonus ski area: Les Contamines-Montjoie — the Evasion Mont-Blanc pass also includes access to the Contamines-Montjoie ski area. Note that this ski area is not ski-in ski-out linked to the others. Accessible by car or shuttle in a few minutes, it is renowned for its excellent snowfall and offers high-quality skiing in a wilder setting in the heart of the Nature Reserve.

Combloux, Megeve (Jaillet sector) and La Giettaz share a fine joint ski area facing Mont Blanc. At the foot of the Aravis, the Portes du Mont-Blanc totals 100 km of runs across 69 pistes. The shared ski area has 13 green, 18 blue, 30 red and 8 black runs. The ski area has 29 ski lifts, mainly drag lifts, as well as one gondola and 8 chairlifts. The highest point, the Tete du Torraz at 1,930 m, offers an exceptional 360-degree panorama over the surrounding massifs: the Aravis, Mont Blanc and the Beaufortain. The ski area is renowned for the quality of its snow and the diversity of its runs, suited to beginners and experienced skiers alike.

You will find 18 km of trails at La Livraz – Cote 2000 (towards the airfield) — the resort’s main site — 10 km of trails at the Mont d’Arbois golf course level, and 5 km of trails at Odier (linked to Combloux). A mixed 15 km linked groomed trail connects the Mont d’Arbois golf course, the Bettex and Saint-Nicolas-de-Veroce to Saint-Gervais. A beautiful sunny balcony trail oscillating between 1,400 and 1,500 metres altitude on the north slope of Mont d’Arbois. Several ski touring routes also allow you to approach the mountain differently, climbing safely. The Portes du Mont Blanc domain has made this a speciality with no fewer than 12 marked routes. Hikers and snowshoe enthusiasts will also find 16 groomed and marked pedestrian trails at village level and at altitude. 4 snowshoe routes also allow you to reach altitude in an into-the-wild mode.
