Overview of La Norma
La Norma is built around a compact pedestrian centre, constructed in terraces on a mountainside facing the Vanoise massifs. In a car-free village spirit, the resort centre concentrates shops, ski school, tourist office, restaurants and entertainment. The architecture blends light-timber contemporary-style residences and more classic Savoyard chalets, without visual breaks. Buildings, rarely exceeding four storeys, are well integrated into the slope and the forest. Everything is accessible on foot, even with children, from any accommodation. The ski area base is wide, clear and very functional. In summer, the resort extends towards a lake area, with picnic tables, a swimming space and play equipment. Just below the resort, the Esseillon forts site hosts a tree-top adventure park, zip-lines and one of the first via ferrata routes in the Alps.
