In winter, the resort attracts visitors for its quality snow cover and 400km of slopes reaching into Italy. Overview of Montgenèvre
Montgenevre stretches along the south-facing slopes of the eponymous pass. A traditional alpine village centre is surrounded by small, human-scale residences. The resort retains its historic character, with timber chalets, military architecture and a transalpine heritage. Backed up against Claviere in Italy, it allows you to move from a cappuccino to a generis in a few steps, with the mountains as a backdrop. Skiing at Montgenevre means testing a Dolce Vita skiing experience on one of only two Franco-Italian ski areas in existence (alongside La Rosiere). In addition to its alpine and cross-country ski areas, the resort offers other activities for those who don’t ski: snowshoeing, a spa centre, rail sledging, cinema, paragliding, a natural ice rink and ski touring. A fairly complete and family-friendly destination.

Montgenèvre in summer
In summer, Montgenevre attracts nature, cycling and heritage lovers. On foot or by mountain bike, trails lead to the military forts, the Lac des Anges or the Janus ridges. The bike park and the fun tracks of the Chalvet gondola attract riders. For heritage, the Maginot Line fortifications and the Via Domitia bear witness to its frontier history. For families, golf, the rail sledge and summer village events complete the offer. And if the heat becomes too much, head for the heights or take a plunge in the spa centre.

In winter, Montgenevre offers a Dolce Vita skiing experience with its two slopes and the link to Italy. The ski area is technical on the Grand Montgenevre side, more accessible on the village side. You ski through forest or facing open panoramas. The Nordic ski area and snowshoe routes are also well regarded. Non-skiers enjoy the rail sledge, the spa centre, the cinema and dog sledding. Montgenevre is also one of the rare resorts that combines a southern atmosphere, alpine traditions and Italian day trips within a single outing.

Montgenevre markets 2 ski areas: the Grand Montgenevre and the Mont de la Lune. It is via the Mont de la Lune that the link to the Voie Lactee (Italy — 400 km of runs) is possible. On the Montgenevre side, skiing takes place on 2 slopes: a large north-facing sector with reliable snow cover and a south-facing sector overlooking the village. The ski area has runs of all levels and a 50,000 m2 beginner area at the ski area base. However, to ski the Grand Montgenevre, a reasonable ability is recommended, as there are many red and black runs. The runs are spread between 1,860 and 2,580 m altitude across mainly forested and rolling terrain, offering great diversity between forest skiing and wide open views.
