Overview of Les Saisies

The heart of the village blends large Savoyard chalets, recent mountain-style residences and well-integrated shops. Its urban layout, gentler than in some resorts of similar size, prioritises direct access to the slopes and a relaxed atmosphere. From Les Saisies, you can quickly reach the Espace Diamant ski area or the Nordic trails inherited from the 1992 Winter Olympics. The views over the Mont Blanc massif, notably from Bisanne or Chard du Beurre, contribute to the unique charm of the resort.

The resort is fairly spread out and comprises several sites: the resort itself extends for 1.5 km from the Col des Saisies to Les Carrets; the La Foret district, on the Bisanne road, consists of residences in a forest setting; Bisanne 1500 is a small, sun-exposed ski area on the slopes of Mont Bisanne; and Hauteluce is a beautiful Beaufortain balcony village, from the far end of which you can also access the Les Contamines slopes. All these sites are linked by free shuttles in season.

Les Saisies in summer

In summer, Les Saisies is a green paradise for families and walkers. Trails cross flowering high pastures, notably towards the Signal de Bisanne, the Mont Clocher ridge or the Col du Joly. A bike park, mountain biking routes and gravel loops attract cyclists. Open ski lifts allow you to gain altitude without effort. There is also the Mountain Twister (rail sledge), an aquatic and spa centre and tree-top adventure courses to enjoy.

Les Saisies in winter

In winter, Les Saisies attracts families and skiers of all levels. The Espace Diamant ski area links six resorts across 192 km of runs: quiet skiing or touring, everyone finds their match. The Nordic ski area, labelled Nordic France, is a reference with 120 km of trails, formerly a competition venue for the 1992 Winter Olympics. Add to this dog sledding, snowshoeing, biathlon outings and ski touring. Entertainment and services are numerous: snow gardens, fun runs and free shuttles. And all this, often with views of Mont Blanc.

The Espace Diamant is a vast 192 km ski area with the distinctive feature of linking six charming Savoyard village resorts: Les Saisies, Hauteluce, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Flumet, Crest-Voland/Cohennoz and Praz-sur-Arly. Its major asset and signature is the ever-present and spectacular panorama over the Mont Blanc massif. Ranging from 1,000 to 2,070 metres altitude, the ski area is particularly appreciated by families and beginner to intermediate skiers. The run distribution confirms this, with a large majority of green and blue runs (nearly 60%) winding pleasantly between fir forests, clearings and high pastures. The atmosphere is relaxed and pressure-free, with generally smooth links between resorts. The ski area is also well-equipped with fun areas for all ages, including numerous boardercross runs, snowparks and the Opoualand children’s zone at Crest-Voland. Rather than depending on a single large resort, Espace Diamant draws its strength from its network of villages. Each resort preserves its identity while giving access to the entire ski area. Les Saisies, also known for its immense Nordic skiing domain, offers direct access and wide runs on well-snowed slopes. Crest-Voland/Cohennoz, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe and Praz-sur-Arly are ideal gateways for pleasure and family skiing. Hauteluce ensures a direct and quick link with the Saisies sector.

Cross-country ski area — Les Saisies

The Les Saisies Nordic ski area extends across 120 km of trails on the Mont Bisanne, accessed from the Col des Saisies. Skiing takes place mainly through forest, except in the upper part of the ski area (the Palette sector, at 1,750 m) where the trails run alongside the alpine ski area. The trails are of high quality — wide and well-groomed, inheriting the routes laid out for the 1992 Winter Olympics, when Les Saisies hosted the Nordic events. 13 routes are available from Les Saisies or Le Lachat (Crest-Voland), ranging from 1 to 22 km. This longest loop — the Raphael Poiree — offers a fine tour of the ski area across 22 km with 460 m of positive elevation.
