Overview of Lans en Vercors

Lans-en-Vercors is a human-scale village resort organised around an active village centre with shops, restaurants, markets and services. Two skiing areas make up the offering: the Montagnes de Lans alpine sector at 1,400 m, and the Val de Lans Nordic area departing from the village. The village is also home to the cultural centre Le Cairn, an active concert hall open year-round. Lans successfully combines local life, family tourism and a preserved environment, making it one of the most well-rounded resorts on the plateau.

In summer, Lans-en-Vercors is a cool, green refuge for Grenoble residents and holidaymakers alike — popular with families, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Numerous trails set out directly from the village, leading to the Moliere plateau, the Moucherotte ridges and the Col de l’Arc. The site is also a mountain biking base for the Vercors. Le Cairn cultural centre, with its auditorium and museum space, allows visitors to combine culture and the outdoors.

The Montagnes de Lans alpine ski area extends between 1,400 and 1,807 m, with 23 runs across around 24 km of skiing. It is perfectly suited to families and beginner to intermediate skiers, and is the closest medium-sized resort to Grenoble. It has 7 green, 11 blue, 4 red and 1 black runs served by 12 ski lifts, including a 4-person chairlift. The beginner area at the foot of the slopes is well designed, with a carpet lift, a fun zone and direct access to services. The snowpark, simple but effective, allows a few tricks for young skiers. The ski area offers very fine views over the Vercors plateau, the Trieve and Belledonne. At the top of the runs, the Vertige des Cimes open-air platform allows you to admire the view from the Grenoble conurbation to the Mont Blanc massif. Maintenance is regular, queues are rare and the atmosphere is pleasant. For strong skiers, it remains a day-trip ski area, but the environment, flow and quality of the runs make it an ideal terrain for progressing without pressure.
