Overview of La Rosière
La Rosiere consists of two main districts: La Rosiere Centre and Les Eucherts, linked on foot by a pleasant path or on skis, each with its own character. The historic heart, around the tourist office, retains a Savoyard village atmosphere, with stone-and-timber chalets and pedestrian circulation. The Les Eucherts district, more recent, is family-oriented, with a ski area base, shops, an ice rink, bowling and a wellness centre. Together they form a coherent, airy urban layout, very well integrated into the landscape. The resort has successfully avoided tower blocks and preserved an authentic mountain spirit, despite a fairly imposing recent Club Med. From any accommodation, slopes and activities are easily accessible. The panorama is one of La Rosiere’s great assets: an unbeatable view over the Haute Tarentaise valley and the Vanoise summits, facing due south. A little apart, the village of Montvalezan — the resort’s supporting commune — has preserved the charm of a mountain village.

In summer, La Rosiere reinvents itself as an alpine base camp for sport, heritage and open landscape enthusiasts. Its position on the Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard road (open in the warmer months) makes it very easy to reach Italy, by bike or car. Walks on trails accessible to all lead to the Redoute Ruinee fort, the La Thuile high pastures and mountain lakes. Mountain biking, trail running and guided walking routes are marked from the resort. The 9-hole golf course at 2,000 m altitude is a rare asset, with a striking view. For families, mini-golf, archery, a pumptrack, yoga, donkey trekking, events and a craft market punctuate the weeks.

In winter, La Rosiere impresses with its Franco-Italian ski area and its south-facing slopes. You ski in sunshine all day, with unbeatable views over the Tarentaise valley, the Beaufortain and Vanoise summits. The French sector is ideal for families, with wide runs, well-equipped beginner zones, a snowpark, a boardercross and fun activities. The link with La Thuile (Italy) provides a complete change of scene, with more technical runs and long forest descents. La Rosiere is linked to La Thuile in Italy via the Espace San Bernardo ski area — a combined 154 km of runs between 1,200 and 2,800 metres altitude. On the French side, the runs are wide, well-exposed and perfect for progression or family skiing. On the Italian side, the skiing is wilder, with longer descents, forest passages and often fresher conditions. The overall ski area is well equipped with modern ski lifts and a very good distribution of levels: approximately 20% green, 40% blue, 30% red and 10% black. Snow cover is generally reliable thanks to the high altitude and mixed aspect. The snowpark is well regarded, as are the supervised freeride areas.
