Located on a large plateau overlooking Chambery, Savoie Grand Revard is France’s most visited cross-country ski area. It lies in the Bauges Pre-Alps, north-west of the Alps, above Chambery. The ski offering consists of 150 km of Nordic trails and two alpine ski areas. In summer, the Nordic trails transform into low-gradient paths for walking and mountain biking. Savoie Grand Revard comprises 3 sites: La Feclaz is the main resort — made up of chalets and small residences, a popular small domain with Chambery residents, especially on sunny weekends, and the main gateway to the Nordic ski area, with a small alpine ski area. Saint-Francois-de-Salles is a small Bauges village providing access to the cross-country trails without the parking headache, with a Nordic lodge for ski hire and lessons. Le Revard is one of France’s oldest mountain resorts, formerly accessible by funicular then cable car from Aix-les-Bains. Today only the road provides access to this beautiful panoramic summit. There is a small alpine ski area and a Nordic departure point — and a unique viewpoint over the Lac du Bourget, one of Savoie’s most visited sites.
