Overview of Gourette

Situated at the bottom of the Ossau valley, at the foot of the mythical Col de l’Aubisque, Gourette is built in an arc facing the slopes, offering great practicality and numerous ski-in ski-out accommodation options. The ski area, rising from 1,350 to 2,450 metres, is the resort’s main asset. Gourette is particularly famous for its dedicated beginner area, the Happy Place. Located on the Bezou plateau at 1,600 metres, this 14-hectare area is entirely secured and designed for gentle learning, away from the flow of more experienced skiers. Intermediate and expert skiers are equally well served, with long blue and red runs offering superb panoramas over the cirque, and technical black runs in the Pene Blanque sector. The resort has invested heavily in recent years to modernise its ski lifts, providing fast and comfortable access to the entire ski area.

When to visit

Gourette in summer

In summer, Gourette is the starting point for magnificent walks in the Pyrenees National Park, notably towards the Lacs d’Anglas and d’Uzious. The resort sits at the foot of the Col de l’Aubisque — a mythical location for cyclists from around the world. The ski area also transforms into a mountain biking spot, with downhill tracks. An ideal destination for lovers of wild mountains and wide-open spaces.

Gourette in winter

In winter, Gourette is entirely focused on sliding. Alpine skiing reigns supreme, with a ski area suited to all levels. To vary the pleasures, the resort offers a giant zip-line, open-air Nordic baths for relaxing after skiing and Snake Gliss descents (group tobogganing). Marked snowshoe routes also allow you to enjoy the calm of the mountains.
