Located at 1,368m altitude in the commune of La Morte, the Alpe du Grand Serre is a family resort nestled between the Taillefer massif and the Grand Serre mountain. Created in 1938, it long charmed visitors with its authenticity, calm and affordable prices. However, faced with increasingly short winters, chronic deficits and ageing facilities, the resort came close to permanent closure in October 2024. Thanks to local mobilisation and public and private support, it was granted a reprieve for the 2024-2025 season. This respite aims to prepare a transition to a four-season resort model, integrating summer activities to diversify its tourism offer. For 2026, however, in mid-June, hopes appear slim.

L’Alpe du Grand Serre consists of six hamlets, of which La Blache is the tourist hub — with the ski area base, lift ticket offices and the main shops. The village retains a traditional architecture of timber chalets and human-scale buildings, preserving its authentic charm. Surrounded by forests and alpine meadows, the resort offers a natural setting conducive to relaxation and outdoor activities. In summer, walking trails and mountain biking tracks allow you to discover the surrounding landscapes, while the resort’s lake provides a swimming and leisure area.

In winter, L’Alpe du Grand Serre offers a 55 km ski area across 38 runs (5 green, 19 blue, 12 red and 2 black), served by 14 ski lifts. The resort is particularly popular with families and beginner skiers for its convivial atmosphere and affordable prices. Alongside alpine skiing, 20 km of cross-country trails and snowshoe routes allow you to fully enjoy the snowy landscapes. Ski touring and dog sledding are also available.
