Overview of Aillons-Margeriaz

The Aillons-Margeriaz resort is spread across two levels: Aillons 1000 — the resort adjacent to the main village, with shops, activities and accommodation — and Margeriaz 1400, higher up, the snow area directly connected to the runs. At the top, there is a large car park but no accommodation. Below, the architecture is functional but sober, with a few residences, timber chalets and older buildings around the village heart. In the village, genuine village life continues, with a bakery, a cheese cooperative, leisure activities and the Aillon Charterhouse — unique local religious heritage. In summer, both sectors open onto accessible high pastures, panoramic trails and preserved local wildlife. Aillons-Margeriaz is a lively, year-round, human-scale resort.

Aillons-Margeriaz in summer

In summer, Aillons-Margeriaz is a nature playground for families and sport enthusiasts. Marked trails cross forests, ridges and high pastures, with superb panoramas over the Bauges, Belledonne and as far as Mont Blanc. Mountain biking and e-mountain biking routes allow you to explore the massif at all levels. The tourist office also offers guided walks, nature workshops, donkey treks and a visit to the Aillon cheese dairy. Children enjoy the tree-top adventure course, the Tannes et Glacieres educational nature trail and the village activities. The Bauges UNESCO Geopark interpretation centre offers exhibitions and activities around local geological heritage. At Aillons 1000, there are also fun activities: the Pays des Geants (nets suspended in the trees), a zip-line cascade and a low big air with a tubing piste.

The Aillons 1000 site is now closed for skiing due to insufficient snow cover.
