The Mont-Dore ski domain, Auvergne skiing’s cradle, is undoubtedly the Massif du Sancy’s most sporty and most alpine. Deployed on the highest Massif Central summit’s north slope, it offers unique high-mountain skiing with combes, valleys and engaged slopes giving it wild, authentic character. With 41 km runs, the domain suits all profiles. The lower part at 1,200 m constitutes vast very-complete beginner learning space with 15 green and 8 blue runs — ideal discovering gentle sliding. But Mont-Dore reveals full potential gaining height. The famous Sancy cable car transports skiers to 1,800 m opening exceptional terrain for good skiers. The 6 red and 2 black runs offer fine technical descents with important vertical. The domain is also renowned freeride spot with many couloirs and accessible off-piste (safety equipment recommended). When weather permits, connection with neighbouring Super-Besse is open via ridges forming Grand Sancy Domain with 84 km runs. This duality makes Mont-Dore strong: character skiing and grand spaces plus historic thermal resort charm.
