The Praz de Lys – Sommand Nordic ski area, labelled Nordic France, is one of the largest and most well-regarded in the region, extending across 60 kilometres of trails. Located on high-altitude plateaus at 1,500 m, it generally benefits from excellent snow cover. The trails are laid out for both classic and skating technique, offering great diversity of routes (3 green, 4 blue, 3 red, 1 black) through grandiose landscapes of high pastures and forests, with unbeatable views of Mont Blanc. Nordic lodges at Praz de Lys and Sommand provide equipment hire, information, warm rooms and sometimes light refreshments. The site is also ideal for biathlon.
