In the heart of the Maurienne valley, the Karellis Nordic ski area offers a preserved space of 30 kilometres of cross-country trails — with the rare advantage of being entirely free. This makes it a popular destination for gentle sliding, snowshoeing and nature walking enthusiasts. The groomed and marked routes wind through a peaceful setting of larch forests and exceptional Alpine panoramas. Departure is easy from the col car park — also free — allowing immediate immersion in a calm and serene environment. The ski area offers 30 km of maintained trails for both classic and skating technique, with several loops at different levels (including one blue, two red and two black). The routes cross magnificent larch forests and lead to remarkable viewpoints over the Vanoise, the Valloire valley, the Maurienne and the Galibier. One of the must-do routes leads to the Col d’Albanne at 1,600 m altitude, offering a genuine mountain experience. Beyond skiing, a network of 20 km of marked and secured routes is specifically dedicated to snowshoeing and walking — also free.
