At the foot of Mont Blanc, the Les Contamines-Montjoie Nordic ski area is one of the most well-regarded in Haute-Savoie for cross-country skiing. The ski area offers 25 km of marked and groomed trails for both classic and skating technique, in the magnificent setting of the Contamines Nature Reserve — a true haven of peace for nature and gentle sliding enthusiasts. The ski area is accessible primarily from the Notre-Dame de la Gorge site, 5 km from the village centre. It has 6 trails for all levels: 1 initiation loop (0.5 km), 1 green trail (3 km), 2 blue trails (3 km and 5 km), 1 red trail (8 km) and 1 black trail (5.5 km). The trails follow the Bon Nant river, offering an exceptional setting in preserved nature. The ski area is also known as a four-season site, as it is also used in summer for roller skiing. It has a homologated international biathlon stadium with 20 targets, where initiation sessions are regularly offered. A 3 km illuminated loop (the blue Les Bords de Bon Nant trail) allows night cross-country skiing.
