Just 25 minutes from Grenoble, the Col de Porte Nordic ski area — also known as the Domaine de Chamechaude — is a well-regarded destination in the Chartreuse massif, often described as the mecca of Nordic skiing near Grenoble. The site benefits from remarkable snowfall at 1,326 metres altitude. The ski area offers 18 kilometres of groomed trails for both classic and skating technique, winding between forests and meadows. The 4 trails (1 green, 2 blue, 1 red) provide routes for all levels. A 9 km linking route also connects to the neighbouring Sappey-en-Chartreuse ski area. The site is particularly appreciated for its FFS-approved biathlon stadium, where initiation sessions are offered by the ski school. For night skiing enthusiasts, evening sessions are organised every Thursday until 8:30 pm. Non-skiers can enjoy 2 marked snowshoe routes (totalling 7 km). All services (hire, lodge, dining) are available at the trail departure.
