Nicknamed French ‘Little Siberia’ for its record-breaking cold, Mouthe is a small village in the Haut-Doubs, sitting at the source of the River Doubs on the border between the Jura and Doubs departments. The Chez Liadet Nordic area, where the trails start 3km from the village (1,080m), offers 59km of cross-country trails for all levels, from a family-friendly play area to the legendary ‘Fabrice Guy’ trail, named after the village’s own cross-country skiing champion. Mouthe is also the traditional finish line of the Transjurassienne, which links Lamoura to Mouthe.
